1.31.14

“Women Warriors” Fundraiser

IN NOW PAC held a fundraiser on the Roe v. Wade anniversary January 22^nd at The Fringe Theater. It was a great honor to recognize women who are in the front lines fighting for reproductive rights. “Women Warrior” medals were presented to State Rep. Sue Errington, Rep. Linda Lawson and Betty Cockrum, CEO of Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky. Former Senator Vi Simpson was unable to attend. Candidate for Secretary of State Beth White accepted Senator Simpson’s medal.

The warriors were chosen for their courage under fire. Assaults on reproductive rights continue in Indiana.  The fight against the war on women in the current political climate is a challenge. The money raised at the fundraiser is going to NOW endorsed candidates with the goal of making the State Legislature friendly for reproductive rights.  

11.30.2013

The PAC held the State Conference auction and raised $1,300. The money will be used to financially support feminist candidates. NOW endorses candidates if their beliefs align with the NOW philosophy of social, economic and political equality.

 The three candidates mentioned will win in November 2014 with Indiana NOW’s assistance.

 Indiana NOW endorses Beth White as a candidate for Secretary of State in a competitive state-wide race. Currently, she is a Marion County Clerk who has successfully run elections. The Secretary of State office is essential to continue fair voting rights for women. Beth can win, but will need financial resources to run against a well-funded candidate.

NOW endorses Sue Errington for State Representative. She is a true champion of women’s rights.  She won a tough primary in 2012 and ultimately won the seat. She was endorsed by NOW before as a State Senator.

NOW endorses Karlee Macer for State Representative. She won in a heavily leaning Republican district in 2012. She won by 3,000 votes to the surprise of the Indiana Democratic party machine.

In 2012, the PAC endorsed Vi Simpson for Lt. Governor and Sue Errington for State Representative. The PAC is in the process of recruiting endorsable candidates for the 2014 elections.
