Indiana NOW’s blog relies upon contributions from readers. We would be delighted to have you contribute some original feminist content to our blog.

Please note we cannot pay for submissions. Everyone who contributes to the site is a volunteer.

Guidelines for Contributors to Indiana NOW’s Blog:

How?

  • Please contact us using the contact form below and someone will follow up with you soon!

Who?

  • Contributions are encouraged from feminists living in/from Indiana, especially those from marginalized communities who haven’t had the opportunity to share their work before–we are committed to uplifting and centering those voices.
  • We are interested in contributions from folks who are passionate about our core issues: reproductive justice, racial justice, LGTBQIA+ rights, economic equality, ending violence against women, and constitutional equality. We are also interested in contributions about feminism in pop culture, such as reviews of feminist books, television, and movies.
  • We are particularly keen to encourage and showcase new voices, and can offer help and support – just ask.

What?

You can contribute:

    • A feature, word count 1,000-5,000.
      • These contributions should read like magazine articles. Please work references into the body of the article as hyperlinks–make sure to reference any information you used from an outside source, and use language that is accessible to a wide audience.
    • A review, word count should be between 800 and 3,000 words, but a good length would be 1,000-2,000 words. Please feel free to send us any reviews related to feminism in pop culture.
    • Organizing resources with a brief commentary on how feminist organizers can use those resources–commentary should be at least 500 words.
    • Information on events, including trainings, webinars, etc., that feminists in our group could attend. Please provide information on the event along with a brief commentary of why it would be useful (200-500 words).
    • You can also submit a shorter, one-off guest post for our blog, 800 words maximum, such as an opinion-editorial on an upcoming piece of legislation, a cultural or political issue, etc.
    • Indiana NOW would like this blog to serve as a space for productive debate and sharing of ideas–we understand the value of such debate in creating change. However, we have a no tolerance policy for any kind of attacks, remarks, insults, etc., especially pertaining to class, race, gender, sexuality, dis/ability, and any other attacks on identity categories. Don’t send us that trash–it will go straight into our NO pile.

Please note that submissions may be subject to an editing process.
